Is this long a slide a fantasy or can it be done on a 1911 platform?
GNR had a 7 " slide for a African hunt but the 8inch barrell was required . And buy the way what ever became of your 7 inch you wanted some one to buy last year?

Ron, with any long slide you will need a longer

barrel. When we bought out that company that built 1911s there were a couple of 7" frames in there, both in 10mm. Both slides were so out of specs that it took us forever to get even one slide fit to the frame, and just as long to get the 7" barrel fit to that frame. One of the slides was so out of specs that we never were able to get it fit to a frame.
Once we figured the amount of hours it took to get that one gun finished we junked the second gun. I kept the one 10mm that was able to get finished.

Ron, going back over your questions you have me

confused. The long slide couldn't have been for an African hunt as semi autos have been illegal in Africa for several years. I think the gun you were thinking of was a revolver as in Africa they are required to have an 8" barrel.
The gun I had for sale was the one that took forever to put together and even then I wasn't satisfied with it so we junked it. If it is the gun you are thinking of I showed it and mentioned it would be for sale but then pulled it off the forum due to the fitting problems. I have 2 long slides, one in 10mm and the other in 45. Neither of those were ever for sale. The 45 has been one of my personal guns since 1978.
