I’ve enjoyed the written research very much! Seyfried and Bowen both. Plus I have another fellow to hunt up as well. The “shotshell” part is easier and more established. All brass cartridges capped with gas checks (better served as inverted, not as shown) should maximize precious capacity for small pellets. However I cannot resist the notion of fabricating little 1-2/3” long .410 shotshells to serve the same purpose. Wouldn’t they be so cute! I’m horrified at the prices they ask for fired plastic .410 hulls these days. It’s as much as brass empties, why?! Also a crimp of some sort must be used. Either a folded crimp as in the photo or a “rolled” type like they used to use on old paper shells. They have the tools needed to perform rolled crimps on modern plastic hulls. You need a “shell vice” to help hold the Shotshell fast, then a steel crimper is spun manually or via electric assist with some downward force. This heats the plastic making it quite malleable, and folds over the crimp onto an over shot cap. However both types of Shotshell crimps must be shorter than the chamber as this “crimp” must unfold upon firing. So either design will require a shorter loaded cartridge which will rob capacity, already a precious commodity. But it sure would look cool. A couple buckshot pellets should fit.
