It can burn you, that's why it's called hot glue. lol I lick a finger and gingerly pat the hot glue flush. It congeals some of the pellets at the front of the charge together. It sort of turns them into a "Cor-bon" front projectile. Maybe a dozen pellets or so at most for .44/.45 cal. You could put a thin wad or paper on top of the shot first.

One of my most satisfying shotshells was using .30-30 Win. brass. Cut to cylinder length and fireformed, I used only the powder, a tuft of Dacron, shot, and the hot glue. You can't buy .41 Magnum shotshells, not even capsules. But they worked great. I do think a plastic sheet between the bore and pellets will help keep the bore clean. I cut them from thin water bottles.
