It seems a homeless veteran had passed away and the funeral director needed someone to play an instrument at the interment. The accordion player agreed and on the day drove off into the country to find the cemetery.
Not having been there before he became lost and drove around for 45 minutes or so looking for the funeral. Coming around a hill he finally spots the gathering on a hillside, with only the workers there, who were getting ready to fill in the hole.
He drove up, apologized for being late and got out his accordion. Standing next to the grave he began to play Amazing Grace. As he played he thought about the veteran who had served his country and how he was forgotten by everyone. He started to cry as he played and he put his heart into playing for the departed.
He finished and was walking back to his car when he heard one of the workers say, "I'll be damned. I have been putting in septic tanks for 20 years and I never saw anything like this!"
