This is looking South from the top of Aztec Peak in Arizona. Aztec Peak is about 40 miles North of Globe. Between Aztec Peak and the most distant mountains are several million people in towns and cities that include Tucson.

I believe those mountains are in Mexico or close to it, about 170 miles distant. Standing up there on the fire lookout tower, the distance is almost dizzying.

I spent about 6 weeks in jan/Feb 23 in the Quartzsite area.

Towed our jeep there. We put about 750 miles of trail driving on it. Did some metal detecting, rockhounding, hiking and exploring. When you get up on top of a mountain there's nothing like the desert views. Hope to get back, maybe this winter if gas prices stay down. Motorhome gets 6-7 mpg. Won't stay just at Quartzsite, too much else to see in AZ.
