We have 43 I believe it is. Or it may be 45. They don't hold still to be counted.

the big black and white birds. They lay around 300+ eggs per year. Of late though I switched to Black and Blue Australorp with a few "Easter Egger" hens also. The latter lay all different colors of eggs. Blue and green both.

I find they are some of the most calm and enjoyable chickens we've ever had. However I do miss the Guinea's, and I had a pair of big Black Spanish Turkey. HE was a surly one!

Organic Free-Range Farm-Fresh. They use the proceeds to pay for the feed and their Lego Addiction. They bought these from a lady who raises "Organic Non-GMO chickens." There are 4 or 5 different breeds. And they are from 5 days to a week and a half old.

Any roosters they will sell to anyone wishing to breed their flock.

I wonder how well it would work as a semi-retirement business?

I moved to a rather rural location in Maine with a job transfer and I do have the room( I have about 40 acres with a tiny off grid home) but I do have predators around the area.

black bear( the nemesis of WB)
fisher or fisher cat
coyote
raccoon (one took up winter quarters in my tiny attic and left tootsie rolls for me to clean up)
red and gray fox
owls

It will be interesting.

Usually we keep Plymouth Rock chickens

My grandsons have a business selling eggs.

My wife is selling eggs and chicks locally. She loves it.
