Reeder Custom Guns - Isn't this literally the "old" .22 Long cartridge?

I thought the old .22 Long was simply the .22 Short bullet in the .22 LR case. I don't remember the performance being enhanced, although I thought it should be. Like a big car motor in a mid-size sedan.

They also have 100 packs of .22 WMR for $22. Not too bad.

*The ONLY ammo I've found so far that reliable functions in my little Beretta 21A is .22 LR Mini-Mags. The old industry stand-by. If it won't run with Mini-Mags, you have some tinkering to do.

It seems it was a lengthened .22 Short to begin. 25% more capacity, a whole 5 gr. Black Powder! Hot stuff for 1871 I figure. The velocity rating, nominally, is about 50-75 fps more than a 40 gr. LR round. I guess they never marketed a “hi-velocity” version of the Long up until the .22 Stinger? But it’s 33 gr. and has a longer case.

It seems like they are trying to reinvent the wheel a tad too much. Maybe I am getting jaded as I get older.
