them in the snow. We are seeing a lot of them and amazingly I am seeing them in cold weather. They don't have any fur, just those bristles that can't be very warm.
Down south of here they are seeing them in packs of a dozen or more. In the spring they are really bad about tearing up the people's gardens.
The two that I shot in the snow were digging at the base of some cactus. I won't say they charged me but at the shot when the first one fell, he did his best to get up but wasn't able to. The second one started doing that Javelina grunt and squeal and stood maybe 15 feet from me and made all kind of noise, shaking his head like he was pissed off. He might have been getting ready to charge , I don't know but he was making a lot of noise so I shot him too.
A lot of people eat them. When I do shoot one I always give them to an older couple I know who makes sausage out of them.
