I have a 300 gr. .45 Colt Ruger load to do.
I didn’t use magnum primers. (?!!) I’m too worried to go with H110 or LilGun. Was going to do 20.0 grs. of either. I think I have some 4227, maybe 2400 too. Looking for about 1200 fps. I’ll double check the load density, if it’s above 95% I just can’t forgo magnum primers. I’ve been burnt by that before.
My 300 gr. .45 Load averages 1150 or so.
18.5 gr. 2400 ... standard primer .. using bullet #457191

I don't neck expand. I use a tapered rod to just flare the lips of the case enough to start the bullet. Extra case tension helps stop bullets from pulling the crimp.
This is actually the .45 Paradox loading.
A full length .460 S&W case loaded like a full wadcutter. I don’t anticipate jumping crimp. I could cap with a gas check too.

Yes, that’s a great article, classic.
The Paradox was “invented” in the late 1800’s. This application was perfected in the early 1990’s. With solid projectile a .45 cal. Bullet is fired and travels some 3.5” to somewhat progressively squirt through 1.5” of .430” bore! Hamilton Bowen and Ross Seyfried worked out the details along with a gaggle of other loonies.
I’m geeking on the residuals of their knowledge. Trying a slick twist or two of later tech.
This gun is a modified .44. All steel with
the unfluted cylinder re-bored straight through to hold a flush .460 S&W case. The barrel is still the original .44 but has a 3-1/2" smoothbore .45 section, a sort of engineered transition or throat, into the .430" section. The bullets do get longer as they are reformed in the bore, and I'm certain it is a little rough but not much more than the cylinder/throat transition. Excepting forcing a .45 into a .44.
They call it a .44 Paradox, but the case (.460 S&W) and bullet are literally .452". But indeed, when the smoke clears, a .44 projectile is what is in play. Just not in the beginning.
This is why I have only tolerant and patient friends...

. . . that Linebaugh's loads all greatly exceed the 14,000 PSI pressure limit of the classic .45 Colt loads that Ruger recommends in the owner's manuals for its revolvers. If you accept the responsibility for this situation, no problem. But to claim that the Ruger guns are "good for" these loads is ignoring the facts of the matter as far as Ruger is concerned. Your gun, your call.
