In Sixgunner issue #94, April 1995 (only 30 yrs. Ago!). The idea of “running out of lube” is interesting. The spinning forces and all. I have noted bullets out of a backstop still containing lube. I do not recall specifics or caliber.

The liquid Alox, do you think it smears off in the bore or gets “ironed into” the bullet upon firing? Interesting stuff. Also the viscosity of varied lubes would figure into the mix?

Bullets I've recovered have the Lee Alox still on them..

so I don't believe it all gets smeared off ... or ironed out. I am not sure how it all works. I just figure, If it works, use it. :-)
