It was a totally proprietary round Colt came up with. There are a few rounds for collectors floating around. Fetch at least $50 per round. I once read Colt made (2), tested them then did away with the guns and project. The chassis is just too fragile for extended heavy use. The rounds were very close to the old Herter's .401 PowerMag but I'd bet not near as hot. I have one of those in my collection I shoot.

I have seen some, ".41 Pythons". One in the flesh. There was a New England fellow, very skilled too, who was quietly making them and selling at big prices. Great to look at but I'd not want too shoot one a bunch. Back in the late 1980's I passed on one with the black and red box, a 6" .41 Python for $600. A slick used .357 version was about $400 back then. So goes the legend of .41 Pythons.
