I can't stand it, they had a chance to tell the tale...

I can't stand it any longer. This nice young man came to HHC, his name is Aaron. Never shot anything before in his life. His Grandpappy gave him a nice Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum. What a nice gift! Along with a few rounds of ammo. He practiced and got pretty good with it before coming. I heard tell he was pretty sure to 50-75 yds.

I think the boys had good chase and Aaron made a fantastic show. One well placed shot for a big hairy TN piggy. However the biggest surprise is that we discovered the slick little Marlin does not have a rear sight! Aaron thought it was made that way. The classic potmetal Marlin folding rear blade had been damaged or popped off. A very common issue with the brand, quite fragile actually. Two little projecting metal "tits" hold the blade on with spring tension. Aaron was using those two projections as meters for right and left windage, he figured out the elevation so he could hit.

Hats off to Aaron and his first head of game at HHC in TN! Another memory of a lifetime.
