Hello All:

I have too much time on my hands. Then again that reminds me that I need to do more work on my off-grid cabin.

I saw someone who has been successful with the 309 online for a variety of game like antelope and deer.

I am thinking that the 7x30 Waters or the 7 MM GNR would work just as well and maybe better in the sense that the 309 uses a necked down 444 Marlin case vs a 3030 case.

Anyone have any real world hunting experience with either one to make a good comparison?

Just thinking out loud and possible future purchase. Thank you all from the woods of North Central Maine.

Never shot the 309, I have killed a ton of deer and hogs

with the 30 GNR and 7 GNR both will shoot a 140-150gr bullet at 2400 fps out of a my 13" barrel G2.This hog was taken with the 7 GNR a few years back.

Don’t forget the .256 Falcon to cover the .257 Roberts. All based on maxing the common .30-30 brass. Even the 7 will shoot factory 7x30 Waters to fire form. The .256 Falcon will shoot the old .25-35 Win., once! lol. A bit much asking the brass to violently expand that much. I found out.

JD’s stuff was good. .444 brass is expensive and spotty to get sometimes.

I took a 200lb cat with the 7GNR
