Last day of Maine muzzleloader season

Well. I can't say it has been a bad season. I have been seeing deer but just cannot connect the dots with them in my situation.

This is my current set up. I bought a G2 45 caliber barrel a while back and had it shortened to 18 inches. At the time I lived in Massachusetts and they still have a 18 inch barrel minimum for the muzzleloader season. Albeit a tad long, it still can be used as a specialty pistol. I mounted an Ultradot 30 mm sight and my current load is a Buffalo Bore 300 grain conical over 100 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder. It shoots very well. Most of my shots are 50 yards or less in New England. We are just too thick and brushy for a lack of a better term.

This image was taken last Saturday when it was -4 F. One of the things I use and am sitting on is a Thermarest Z seat cushion. This thing folds up and stores in a side pocket on my Mystery Ranch daypack. Believe it or not it is quite comfortable.

Today I plan to go to a spot where I have seen some does( I have a doe permit for this zone) and see what happens. We have a few inches of snow on the ground and I plan to sit at the peak of this hill where I have seen a lot of sign.

Hopefully I will drag something home.
