Gary you did hear of “Sweet, sweet, Connie” from Little Rock? I met her briefly at a VIP event in LR some 25 yrs. ago. We won some tickets to a Riverside event. I didn’t actually speak to her other than a smile and eye contact from a few feet away. He was in her 50’s by then, I heard her talking and telling some stories with friends. A rocking tune for sure. Arkansas seems to obtain its fame from residual minutia, unfortunate, but embraced.
I just bet her tell all book was interesting.
I know why it's a "Tree Dog Night" but

I never understood why Jeremiah was a bullfrog. One of the very first "Rock" songs I ever really got into. 1971!
Shoot, put a "h" in there for me.

Hoyt Axton wrote a melody that he wanted his producers to listen to, but they wanted him to sing some words. Jerimiah was a prophet is what Axton sang. One of the three band members (Chuck Negron) liked the song as being a silly song that would bring the band back together. They didn't like the original phrase and changed it to what we know now.
That was typical of 3 Dog Night. The lyrics were

that a girlfriend coined the "Three dog night" after an Australian description of a VERY cold evening, needing three dogs to curl up with for comfort. As opposed to a one or two "dog" night of lesser chill. lol
Since there were three main lead singers it sort of fit. I think on "Joy to the World" it actually included all seven band members, a notable part. It sure went to number one fast. Hard to be pissed off while humming that diddy.

from one of the songs from American Band. The band was a kick ass group that never really got the recognition they deserved.
Yes! Grand Funk could really rock. The drummer

actually sang lead on that tune (Don Brewer). The guitarist was even more talented and sang the balance of the tunes. I really think David Lee Roth of Van Halen, tried to mimic many of that boy's (Mark Farner) moves. Comparing to two's live performances I can see it. One of the few who their live performances were just as good as the albums.
Start out with some cowbell!

Band due to feeling than the group's name, Grand Funk Railroad was not a decent name for a group. That really hurt the group as a lot of the radio stations across the country only played songs that end up on Billboard, Cash Box and one of two smaller magazines. They also bad mouthed Farner for performing with no shirt on.
You mentioned Mark Farner, the lead guitar for the group. He also played organ, and played it with his guitar hanging on his shoulder and on his neck.
Connie was one of the best known groupies. She died
