It was still something over $5k. But it came in a fitted take down case with Zeiss scope and sling. His was a 9.3x62 Mauser. About like our .35 Whelen but heavier bullets. He took it to Africa. Not sure what he shot with it. For some reason none of his Africa photos have him with any gun in them. He told me he borrowed a the camp .300 Win. for several head. I was perplexed, but I was not there either. HE had a good time.
The gun was exceptionally accurate and intuitive to use. Reloading would have taken a bit of practice. Sort of like a Browning BAR semi-auto, the captive magazine, but not exactly. Beretta makes a gun very much like it now, basically a straight pull bolt gun. You can swap calibers via barrels, bolt heads (sort of a collet end) and magazines.
