I’ve used them for about 5 years, and I have to admit that while it takes a little more effort and technique than using climbers, once you practice a bit they are infinately safer than hunting from traditional stands…you are always tied in.
My saddle is an Aerohunter, I don’t believe they are made anymore. I have 4 aliminum climbing sticks that have three movable steps on each. With them I’ve been able to climb to about 20’ + with a small Tethered platform.
Thye have allowed me to hunt better areas where no traditional climber would work. plan to pack a small saw or pruner to trim as you go. Plenty of You Tube videos out there to detail how it is done. I’ve only bowhunted this way…but I’ve been quite successful in doing so.
Elevated hunting is great when you can determine your quarry’s current patterns and a nice tree works for a good ambush position…I don’t think it matters where you are…what matters is if you can see the pattern and the position works.
