friends land in Hallettsville, Tx . He has 32 acres, took the 378 GNR with a 260gr CAST HP bullet . I bought the mold from Noe Industries . I could not get the WW alloy bullets to shoot very well , probably to soft, so I went with straight linotype and the bullets shot 1 1/2" at 50.
I setup a corn feeder at about 60 yards. A group of little ones came in early and then 2-3 mom's joined them and then a few 40-60 lb'ers came in last. I shot a 60lb'er in the shoulder and it dropped. Funny thing is the little one's ran about 10 yards and stopped and then came back and started eating again this eventually drew the moms back to the feeder. and the ate all the rest of the corn and then walked off into the brush

The 215 is a cut down LEE mould I made for stepping up the .375 Win. and .375 GNR. I loaded 50.0 gr. 4895 and they shot great, I think around 2100 fps? Still lower pressure.

The 300’s are a little crazy but look cool. In my backstop I noted they tumbled and riveted. I found one in the shape of an ā€œLā€. I always figured I could entice straight penetration by filing a flat meplat on their noses. Plenty of weight to work with.

Have you worked with the traditional .375 255/265 gr. FN for the old .38-55 Win.?

What velocity are you running? The powder? Wondering the burn rate range.

I was referring to loading the .378 GNR.

I tried to keep the velocity around 2000 fps

anything higher and the groups became patterns:-D .
I went with Reloder 15- 53.5gr= 1975 fps which is plenty for a hog at 50 yards . I did try 3031 which shot OK but I did not want to use up all my IMR 3031.
The only other 375 mold I have is a semi-custom RD 375-235 FNGC , one of the guy's on the castboolit forum was selling them

Alloys fail. So manipulating powder burn rate, capacity, and bullet weight, you can work around it.

I once seated a 500 gr. .458 Win. bullet into the throat on a single shot and used bulky .50 BMG powder and Fed. 215 magnum primers. I got almost 2100 gps. Almost 150 fps faster than factory jacketed ammo! They also shot wonderfully.

It will be fun to try cast bullets and bulky powder in the .378 more. I have two, so I need to find a good cast load. So I can shoot them more.

Yes indeed,I have plenty of lino and they perform well

enough for hogs, deer on the other hand they would blow right thru (no expansion).I do have some surplus powders I can use.

Sean

.378 GNR is a good case size. I can use literally

use ANY powder, with a little ingenuity. From Bullseye and a tuft of blanket stuffing to 20mm Vulcan propellant. I can cast a bullet and make it shoot. Gary's toilet tissue stuffing will set the woods on fire, but it works basically like Dacron Polyester (which doesn't melt or burn). I have used Unique, 2400, 4227, and 1680. The old Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has some loads to point one in the direction. Capacity is about the same as a .30-06, just takes a little adapting. The .375 bullets will have less pressure than the .308's.
