Alloys fail. So manipulating powder burn rate, capacity, and bullet weight, you can work around it.
I once seated a 500 gr. .458 Win. bullet into the throat on a single shot and used bulky .50 BMG powder and Fed. 215 magnum primers. I got almost 2100 gps. Almost 150 fps faster than factory jacketed ammo! They also shot wonderfully.
It will be fun to try cast bullets and bulky powder in the .378 more. I have two, so I need to find a good cast load. So I can shoot them more.
