Ditto Elvis. My dad was in High School in the early 1950’s. In the Band, played the short Trumpet thing. They had an event where the school band played at Newport, AR. Some harvest festival no doubt. Newport used to be an important “bulk breaking point” in shipping for the region. Elvis was just starting there and performed from a floating structure or barge on White River as the audience watched from the bank. Dad remarked negatively about all his jigging around. Said he fell into the water, if I remember right. Whether it was staged, an accident, or wishful thinking I’ll probably never know. But to the other high school boys with cuffed up jeans, they weren’t impressed much. lol
