Push the shoulder back far enough to easily lock on a chambered case. Of course check your loaded rounds too. The safety interlock won’t allow cocking unless the action is completely locked.

The less you move that brass/shoulder the longer the brass will last. It’s headspacing on only the rim for that initial fire-forming. After that, it’s on the case shoulder. Minimal movement on resizing will greatly help. I once full length resized full power hunting loads for use in two different guns. I wanted the ammo to fully interchange. (.338 GNR) it sure did cut case life. My first failure was indeed at the case web. A bright ring, pushed further it usually showed a split or maybe could separate completely. If you work the brass hard it lasts less. My rear locking lug .218 Bee (Win. M43) will only tolerate 3-4 95-100% max loadings. If I back down to 80-85% full power I can get 6-8, or more loadings from the tiny thin cases.

Rock on and see how it goes. Take your gun to the load bench to test fit while sizing cases. Allow you a little extra past just closing to allow for a little error after seating. Use safety precautions of course.

I never could get .25-35 Win. To fire form without splitting. But it does shoot it, for emergencies hunting, ruins the cases. I make .300 GNR from them.
