A friend of mine has a .30 carbine Desert Eagle that she wants to sell. What would be a fair price for it?

John, those two words don't go together. Because they don't

exist. What your friend has is the Auto Mag 3 chambered in 30 carbine. I bought one a couple of weeks back. A good price would be under $400.

You're right...

It's been a while since I saw the gun and I got the name wrong... I'm sure it was the Auto Mag. Thanks for the price estimate.

It was a bold design, when they ran it was fun.

Ear splitting blast and huge fireball. Ditto the .30 Carbine Blackhawk. I think AMT had some type of gripping ports to retard extraction. “Retarded blowback” action. Successful 10/22 .22 WMR, Kel-tec, HK and others use the basic concept today. It was pretty slick late last century. Mike Venturino liked this .30 AMT and wrote at least one fair article about them. They didn’t get much press beyond its trumped up introduction. Usually there is a reason.

I have been partial to the Auto Mag pistols

and have the Auto Mag 2, Auto Mag 3 and unfortunately I sold my last original Auto Mag.

They made a 9mm “magnum” and the .45 WM

I think maybe a few in .50 AE? They had it going on for a while. They also made those wonderful Ruger clone .22 pistols and a stainless 10/22. I think really stainless, not aluminum like current “stainless” models. I never had one of those. I did have a stainless AMT 5.5”, with Millett sights and grooved top for scope mounting! All factory at about Ruger price! Always wondered at the copyright arrangement for the design.

The AMT 4 was the 45 Mag while the AMT 5 ws the 50 AE

Kase and I shared the two guns. Kase used the AMT 5 for a while but the blast and recoil were a bit much for him. An older fellow I met at the Tucson gun show invited us to his ranch where we got rid of some feral hogs for him.

There was rumored a 9mm Magnum but

from what I heard AMT wanted a certain amount of 9mm Magnum ammo either made or in the process. I never saw one of the 9mm Magnum guns. I heard Federal agreed to make some of the ammo but again I never saw any of it.

I've read Starline makes some 9mm Winchester Mag. brass?

I've never seen a gun in it either. Just a little bigger version of the .30 C. platform I figure.

Thats one of my bucket list guns
