On Saturday the 31st of October, the Maine firearms season for deer will open. In anticipation of the event, I conducted a practice session with my 10 inch TC 44 magnum.

One great thing about Maine is that you can hunt with a suppressor. So I bought a Silencerco Hybrid 46 M last year and used it on the TC. The suppressor comes with two end caps. One for 30 caliber and the other for 45 caliber. I forgot to swap the 30 cap out.

That's a $100 lesson... they guy I purchased from

waved me off buying those end caps. He warned me about the different sizes on such a versatile can. I was thinking color coding them but I decided to wait. Randy too confirmed just shoot .17-.45 through the standard .46 ends. Only 2-3 dB difference what they say. I don't understand that, but I saved the money.

How does / did your Hybrid 46M do with the TC in 44mag? I have been thinking about purchasing one to put on my 12" 44mag to hunt deer with in Maryland and was wondering if the cost of the Hybrid 46M was worth it to suppress some of the noise.

Hmm. With subsonic loads, it is very quite.

When I shoot super sonic loads, the report is like a 22 WRM or maybe a 22 Hornet.

Some may state that the cost and added weight is not worth it but I did it more for the "cool" factor and that living in a more free state which allows suppressed hunting, I did so.
