Ruger CEO Todd Seyfert pretty much confirmed what has been happening. They are “pausing” and evaluating most everything except the .22 semiauto pistols, the RXM (Ruger’s Glock), 10/22s, American Rifles, and ARs.

My takeaway was that if Ruger is to thrive

and possibly survive, they need to get rid of the current CEO. Paring back your lineup to the few items they did not eliminate is a bad sign.

Wow. The CEO was not reassuring at all. "We

didn't ever update our manufacturing processes on our most identifiable products to the point where they are all unprofitable, so we quit making them. We may or may not bring some back". Meanwhile my new .22 GP100 only made it through the first 50 rounds before starting to frequently bind up.

In 2009 GM filed for bankruptcy $91B debt annual gross revenue was only $104B

Fed Govt bought $50B of stock. Owning 61% of GM

The CFO suggested closing down all losing product lines
All of GM’s product lines were losing money

GM closed 4 of its 8 brands (Saab, Hummer, Saturn and Pontiac)

Within 2 years they were making a profit again.

In 2013 the Feds sold the remaining stock at a loss of $11B (thank you taxpayers)

Then GM F upped again and brought back an ELECTRIC only version of the Hummer.

There was more to it too!

I held $80k GM Bonds. In a default the bond holders are to be paid off. Obama, in control of GM, changed the law and paid his Union voters. Years later in a legal settlement I finally recovered $16k. Yeah, hope I never see him crossing the street in front of me, rest assured. My broker kept saying don’t sell the Govt. Will bail them out, then they are too big to fail, then you’ve waited this long better to ride it out. Well I rode it out. I’ll never use a broker again. I can lose my own money myself for free!

And more on Ruger production cuts.
