Two great trophies any man would be proud of,

especially when taken with a handgun.
I told John (the head honcho of Madubula Safaries) if I live long enough to do so I want to do another lion hunt. I was on the same safari with Blake and got my lion in the area. the only difference is that Blake's lion was taken in some scrub brush ahd still has his heavy mane. Mine was in dense thorns that kept his mane trimmed down. We drove right up to the lion before one of the trackers told us to stop and back up quickly that the lion was just waiting til we passed him and if we did the lion would do what any cat would do and that would be to come up into the truck with us.
My first shot was about 15 feet and the tracker was the only one that could really see the lion. He kept saying "look for the eyes". My first 2 shots were guesswork, since I could never see more than a tan patch in the brush. I was standing on the high back seat. Two shots were thru all that brush and thorns and the way he jumped and turned a big flip in the air I knew I had hit him somewhere.

He took off running toward the only trees in the area. I managed to stay behind him and shot him two more times with my 510 GNR when he got to the trees.

His mane was heavily pulled by the thorns, but he was still a great lion and I couldn't ask for a better hunt.
