A 1957-58 “FerroCast” period Great Western SAA, in .44 Magnum no less. It literally is physically a 2nd Gen. Colt SAA chambered in full .44 Magnum. When I say .44 Mag., I mean 240 gr. At 1400-1500, not the crazy 300+ stuff. In the famous words of Mr. Taffin “they are great .44 Specials”. One full power round will be plenty for anyone to refigure their bravado.

Interesting changes from a Colt in parts, hammer and firing pin design, craftsmanship is (mostly) as good as Colt. The factory struggled significantly and build finish can be a bit of a dependent rollercoaster. Generally examine any with a “0” serial prefix closely. They were “kit” frames likely home built. This example is good except for the very rough ejector housing slot. I’ve got to try and smooth that or swap in a late model replacement. A fun rabbit hole to plunge into. The original CA “Great Western”. Matt Dillon’s 7-1/2” Nickel .45 was actually a GW.

No, I didn’t shoot the cat. She’s 17 yr. old and stone deaf. I think due to my shooting over the years, she was always close at the barn. Foosa
