Pygmy and Timber variety mostly. I have seen ONE Diamondback a long time ago over on our other place. It crawled out of the field and onto the highway. A drunk fellow ran over it and got out to do battle with a broom! He finally got safe (sort of) hold on it and threw it in the back of the old Ford. Said he was going to make something from the hide and eat it! You could see about three big lumps in the snake, probably rabbit, rats, or squirrels. It was 5' long and bigger around that any part of my arm.
Thankfully they are not aggressive. But oh my, you cannot see them in the brush. Too easy to step on or get too close. I read the Diamondback is probably the most dangerous to encounter due to the size and potential venom quantity. I'll take their word for it. I'd hate to step on that fellow at night traipsing around in Crocs. (A big personal fear) The double needle sensation alone, with a snake dangling, would kill me outright. I hear it feels like being hit with a big stick.
The two best snake loads for a handgun I have found are the CCI .22 WMR (#11 shot) and 9mm (#9) shotshells. Simply superb. Of course you can fill the empty capsules of the .38, .44, or .45 with #11 shot and be the cat daddy.
