I’m not sure if this has ever been asked before…

Pardon if an ignorant question. I know the Reeder muzzle brakes are intended to be permanent, not removed. However in light of the suppressor craze I’m wondering what the thread pitch is under that brake and red or green (! O’heavens) Lock-Tite. I’ve never heard of one shooting loose! It has to be just a matter of time before someone try’s it.

I have a custom .338 rifle made in Michigan with a very holey removable brake. I’m having difficulty figuring out what pitch it has. It looks proprietary, not a Brownells stock item.

You need a $10 thread pitch gauge

and a set of calipers.

All this thread pitch stuff gives me a headache.

So many variations within a focused application. You’d think 2-3 variations could get a proper job done. My bolt rifle looks to be small and very fine pitch. Maybe 1/2-36? I’ll follow your suggestion, a man might just need to know.

No way could I count threads per inch! Lol

Was that 24 or 28, 32 or 36? Not much room for error.
