Ok, as I sit by the fire while the cold front drops further south, I'm thinking about what I might get in trouble with in 2018:
1. Anyone tried a 355 gr in the 429GNR? (Encore);
2. Maybe a 480 in a revolver (undecided wether SA or DA)
3.?
Thoughts? Opinions? What are you guys planning for 2018?
I'll have enough play money for 1 gun in 2018..

.. and if I wasn't set on 429 or 410 GNR, that 480 seems to have lot going on. I found it fairly easy shooting for a heavy caliber. And that big hole it leaves behind is pretty cool too.
Trying to justify a 480 revolver...

I already have a 475L in an Encore, and I routinely run some hot 45 LC loads, so I'm just thinking out loud about the 480 fitting into my current tool box. And as gun nuts its not like we need a real logical reason, right? And then there is the SA vs DA argument....lots to think about with a shot of whiskey while basking in the warm glow of the fireplace on NY eve.....
Dave, not sure there is room for an "argument"...

On DA or SA. Simply decide what you want and buy it.
Always good to get advice from experienced shoots like these forum members. But, your gun and your decision.
Hope the New Year brings you what you want.
Shooters - auto correct again...

Get a .480, it fits in any stable. I have a

.480 in a Ruger SRH Alaskan, a FA .475L and a Reeder BMF in 475 Max. and I love them all. I got SA and DA revolvers from .22 to .51 caliber(many in multiples)and that .480 fits in quite nicely. Nothing like a full stable of...horsepower.
I feel the 480 is a bit more versatile

than the 475 LB, IMHO. I have loaded it up to 475 performance and down to mild. In an SRH the recoil is very manageable. And you can always shoot it out of your 475 LB rigs.
Would love a Lipsey's 4 5/8" Bisley .480. . .
