Gary - Got the dies, load book and my brass for the American Hunter 450 GNR. I was checking powder inventory and I have about 5 lbs of Benchmark as I use this in my 405 WCF, low on 3031 & H322 and no H4198. Do you know of any loads using Benchmark with Cast 405 or 420 gr bullets?

I have never tried Benchmark. You might take a look

at the 416 GNR load data and the 476 GNR load data. They, along with the 450 GNR, use the same basic brass and the bullet weights are basically the same, so there might be something in there that you can use.

A lot of gun writers give us 25 different powders and a ton of loads and all this does is confuse me. We may only post 3 or 4 powders in my reloading manual but they all work and work very well. My recommendation is not to waste time playing with a powder not listed and simply go buy a can of H-322, 3031 or 4198. The H-322 was by far the best and most accurate in several Encore barrels we used.

322 has worked best in my Encore. I have

Found Trail Boss makes some really fun light plinking loads for targets and practice loads on rabbits.

Eyeballing warmer .45/70 data might help

reference. You know your pressures will be lower, likely a safe beginning. FWIW.

Benchmark is listed as one step slower than 3031 But in my e

It acts a bet faster. I would start with the low 3031 data and work up
