That was a hoot, we got to tease the girls that a spider was crawling on them (like a daddy long legs) and watch them squirm trying to get a way.... I remember setting up at night listening to the radio and the coyotes calling on the marsh flats of the Nueces River near Calallen Texas. No TV, couldn't afford one, barefoot most of the year except for a few months in the winter. Made a gun out of the steering wheel and shaft out of an old car whose make I have no idea. Cut a slice out of thee shaft where the horn and the wheel screwed together to make a whole unit. The end was threaded, found a cap that would screw onto it and it was just the right size for a marble. Put one in and firecracker, screwed in the cap aimed it up a big live oak tree and shot many times at a squirrel that lived up that tree and came close to him a number of times but never hit him..... Not much in the way of sights. I sometimes wonder how I ever lived to 73 with all the stuff I used to get into. Like everyone else, I wish I could return to those days knowing what I do now but I would have missed so much, so I guess it is better that we do not know what God has in the works for us.
