This guy is talking about the specifics involved in making a jacketed TARGET bullet. Not even going into the aspect of controlled expansion. It goes to show how complex and precise factors are for consideration.

I know nothing of the guys stuff, not promoting it, just for general bullet construction and design information.

he is describing, those tools, would measure the height of your finger prints on a bullet jacket!!!

I'm more than a little skeptical as to the practicality of such tolerances but if you are trying to get a rocket to hit the moon just right every little bit has to help. Cripes, I wobble about 12 MOA on a good day, trying to hit something off a set of sticks with my hunting handgun. But I sometimes get real lucky.

Their purpose is specifically to shoot 5 groups of five shots in a match and the targets are measured to the .001.
Matches can be won or lost by that thousands of an inch.
They are also used in score matches where the same accuracy is needed.

As a recovering stool shooter, accuracy is defined by the three Bs, BULLETS, BRASS and BARRELS. We'd spend thousands of dollars on all three.....and loose our minds when we found a good lot of pills, brass or barrel steel. One of these days I will probably fall off the wagon and get back into BR shooting.
