A rare sighting today...

While navigating the Gulf of Mexico today, I came upon a group of Blue Whales headed Northeast.
Several were spotted and I managed to get within a few hundred feet of them.
One was particularly active and coming out of the water farther than the others. Looked to be 80-85'long.
Still a spectacular sight after all these years.
So tell us....

Went salmon fishing off the coast of Washington many years ago.
The boat came across a Whale & the Captain shut the boat down. Very quiet & beautiful day. The Whale dove downward & exposed its tail above the surface. Could have easily capsized a smaller boat. Very impressive!
Only my 3rd sighting of a Pod in 33 years...

They would come into the bay at Pemba .. with their young .. usually the end of July or first of August they made their appearance .. stayed for a month or so. Saw some breach a couple times... absolutely amazing.
