I tried out a .50 Belowolf on a much lighter AR15 platform

I came away very impressed but put off a bit by the exotic brass/ammo. My BRNO .416 Rigby only weighs 8-1/2 lbs. with scope, why would you want 50% less powerful at 25%+ more weight?

My personal view is the .308 platform should be reserved for long range or a .308 fighting gun. In the latter role I question it's superiority to the modernized M-14 gun which I might just prefer. What impresses me with an AR is a hard hitting repeater that is closer to the old M94 Winchester in weight and portability. To each his own but the .450 class guns call to me more, being able to handle .45 Colt or .45-70 projectiles, and better brass availability. Powerful 1/2 oz. or more bullets at 2000 fps as a base. Add a scope and mount to the boutique AR price ($500 more) and you have an expensive heavy 12 lb. clunker to tote around. I'm always a little leery of the pay me now and we'll build it later (we promise) idea too. But they sound legit. Just me.
