Simple question about the 400 GNR

I'm wondering if the 400 case is fireformed just by firing a std .30-30 in a 400 chamber.
That chambering would meet my needs quite nicely for a lever gun.

bit different. I take a primed new case, fill it with handgun powder like 2400, AA#7, Blue Dot etc, up to the shoulder. Take a quarter of a square of toilet tissue, roll it up into a ball and tamp it down on the powder, and shoot it. It blows the case out straight and you don't waste a bullet.

I've heard of that method
Someone posted somewhere that you can push the case mouth into a bar of soap - sorta make a soap bullet.
I'll talk to you about the .40 cal lever rifle sometime soon.

Does that also work for 280 GNR?
