I take great enjoyment from tinkering with old equipment. Some of these "Bobber" jobs I have seen on MC sites, your idea for levers would fall right in there. "Steam-Punk", "Diesel-Punk", man I feel old all of a sudden.
The "Steam" punk stuff does have some eye appeal but I am more of a form follows function type.
