Can one see a picture of a loaded 321? and to size and shape a case is it a matter of just running it through a sizing die? Forgive my lack of knowledge here I only load straight wall cases at the moment...Thanks for help

I was a bit hesitant on saying yes on the 7 shot as the 321 GNR is built on the 357 mag case which is considerably bigger in the body than the 327 but after looking at the numbers it should be fine in either 6 or 7 shot.

hard cash developing his cartridges. I think maybe the least you can do is call it by it's real name, 300 GNR and not 30 herret short. That was sort of a slam on his work.

and doesn't know that this forum is not like all the others where people try to start arguments. As JT says, this is not a forum, it is a gathering of friends.

Anyway the 300 GNR has a case capacity of 28.5 grains. The 327 federal has 18.5 and the 321 GNR has a case capacity of 25.5, slightly less than the 300 GNR. Where the 321 excels is that you can use readily available 357 Magnum brass and there is no cutting and trimming and fire forming to the 321 GNR. For a person that has considerable time and doesn't work for a living, like WB, the 300 GNR is perfect and a great large deer size critter cartridge. For those that either don't have the extra time or just don't want to go thru the trimming etc, the 321 GNR is perfect and is also good for large deer size critters. The 327 federal, on the other hand is good for rampaging gay chipmunks and animals of that sort.

the case capacity and intent.

Just trying to familiarize myself with your cartridge lineup. At my advanced age, it's easy for me to mess up the numbers and get the cartridges wrong.
A friend sent me a pic of your 300 GNR, must be from your book, pg 15, with reloading data. That's why I called it the short Herrett based on you description. Just an honest inquiry and tried to convey the proper cartridge.

the little bit of effort required to make cases puts some guys off. Gary revised the idea and came up with the .321 that is as easy to form as sizing cases, that you need to do anyway. The performance difference in the 20% capacity difference will likely go unnoticed unless you shoot every shot over a chronograph, it's just numbers anyway.

There is a ratio of neck down to case total diameter that is agreeable to the revolver application. The .321 should fare even better with less diameter. I love my .300 GNR but the .321 would make life lots easier. I only have to commission a new cylinder for my custom six-gun.
