a good quantity of about any CCI balzer empty aluminum casings. The 9mm, .40 and .45 ACP in particular. .44 might work too. I'm wanting to use them as custom projectile jackets. If you have a quantity worth shipping let me know.

The 9mm for .400 cal.

.40 to use in .44 cal.

.45 for .475 uses.

Wish you asked a month ago

Wouldn't they act like aluminum oxide (valve grinding compound) in the barrel?

Is Al2O3 and harder than the hubs of hell which makes it a great abrasive; chemically it is the same composition as a Ruby gemstone. It isn't an aluminum alloy that is malleable such as what would be used for a cartridges case.

I'll have to research that for sure, even with lube..

it might not be good. Brass cases, Berdan, might be the better option. I have seen aluminum caps on jacketed bullets but not on bore riding portions.

And they had a grease groove with lube in them. I figured the winchester engineers had stumbled on something and started lubing jacketed bullets with lee liquid alox. It upped the velocity and increased accuracy with soem loads... especially the 300 gr. Bullets.

Linebaugh about 2 weeks before his death, he practiced in his house shooting 45 ACP empty BRASS in the 475 Linebaugh. They were powerful enough to go thru a cardboard box and then thru the sheetrock wall when he missed the target a time or two. But he used brass and not the aluminum cases.
