Reeder Custom Guns - Man I just don't think I'm a .380 guy...

Having a hard time warming up to it. I really don't feel as well armed as with my .38 snubbie. I know it's in my head. I feel confident with my S&W but with the .380 I feel more like "well at least I have a piece". The .380 is a 6/7-shot too. A little Kahr P380 with night sights, a good one! It's so small and flat, almost too good to let go. I get in my mind to sell and can almost put it on GB but if I get it out and look at it I lose the urge. It's too handy to slip in your pocket and forget you have it.

I think the effective range is more limited compared to the snubby just because it's so small and hard to control. The smooth DA pull is the best in the business, the sights cannot be critiqued for a pocket piece, it's superbly accurate. I just have a time making that last little bit of pull on target. Perhaps I've found the limits of size and shootability. The .380's (pocket ones) are the size of the old .25 ACP's we had back when and weight even less! I carry it with ball as the penetration tests show .380 ball does not over penetrate in test goo, about 12". It likes the RN ball, not the flat tip SIG stuff, odd enough. It feeds it but the SIG 100 gr. ammo has less slide moving power than the Federal 95 gr., which is dead reliable.

I could sell it and get another toy if I can stop coon fingering it! I'll just use my Scandinum S&W M360 38.

I've always wanted that, good sights on a bellygun. But come to find out it's good for about 15 yds., not 25. I guess that falls comfortably within the design parameters, but seems a shame. I sure can't hold it that well. Stick it in a vice and it'd ragged hole at 25. It's mechanically accurate but I'm not.

you this....those 90gr GD HP's will rip you up something terrible. Don't underestimate that little 380 with this factory ammo. A double tap to the chest will send the assailant to see Jesus pretty quick. Sure, it's a back up to my G19, but one I can rely on to take care of business if and when needed.

I liked it enough to buy it, and it's not a cheap model it's the P380. I tested it tonight and my wife can't chamber a round, she does not have enough hand strength. I can't understand. She can snatch a handful of my hair but can't chamber a round?!

I have her set up with a Reeder Custom M60 S&W, she likes it.

over a 38 special. You think a bad guy attacking you will stop when you pull that little toy out because the little 380 is cute. Get real and protect yourself and your family with a real cartridge. Get rid of that little purse gun.

the thing is you end up getting complacent, carrying the "little" gun too conveniently. It's easy to wear Dockers to church and drop in that teeny little .380 (25% lighter and actually smaller than your .25 ACP!) into a pocket. Now if you wear a suit coat, sure a 9mm or .45 in the belt slide works fine and is comfortable.

But isn't it so much easier to just drop that cute little auto in the pocket?! Your in church right? In West Africa I want an AK in my lap! Even here the mindset can be a trap. It would really piss me off to have "only" the .380 and a gunfight erupt with some nut swinging a AR, Shotgun, or such. Either way I'm at a BIG disadvantage.

Before my accident I worked as an embalmer for 17 years and also worked in law enforcement full time or part time for many of those. Having said that, I'm no expert, I've seen a fair share of gun shots. One of the worse I ever saw was from a 380 right above the right eye. The whole right side from the eye to the ear was gone.

summer as example where you cannot always hide the imprint well. I have had folks ask me, knowing I shoot bigbore handguns why I carry a 380 in my pocket. My standard response has always been, " Just to keep your dumbass busy while I fetch the big gun " and that is the reality of it. In the rest of the year I'll carry a belt gun and the little 380 in my pocket, just in case, you remember the old two gun shooters in the westerns hahaah Its just to comfortable to be without. I have the little Ruger LCP, weights almost nothing holds 6 rounds. There are many times I leave the bigger gun in the truck and just carry the 380 along for coffee. Course in my country 4-6 of the other coffee drinkers are armed also, including at least 2 of the waitress's

same size as a 380, my humble opinion is leave the pissant 380 home. The only time I consider carrying anything smaller than a 9mm is when it is a back up to my back up. My Budischovsky is a 25 ACP but it is strictly a secondary gun to my 9mm or my 45 and the 25 is in my boot. Again I feel if you are going to carry a gun for self defense, then carry one that is powerful enough for self defense. My opinion and $11.25 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
