Yesterday seemed to be a big day asking questions on rifle scopes. Today a friend came by to visit and handed me a couple of rifle scopes. One is a Simmons model M3044 3-10x44mm WA. And a Tasco 10x40x50mm DWCP1040x50.
For him to give them to me, They are probably not anything special. Any feed back would be appreciated. Before I put them on the shelf as wall hangers. Pete

I wouldn't be afraid to use them. They are nothing special. The simmons is one of their 44 mag scopes and the tasco is probably one of their world class scopes I think they both sold new for around $125 or less. Used you could maybe get $40 for them. They would be good on a cheap .223 bolt action or the like. Nothing with too much recoil. As long as they are working ok they should do what they are intended.
I have that same 44 mag scope sitting on

a 300 Weatherby Ultralight. The clarity is ok but holds together fine through about 200 rounds so far. And the same Tasco on a Marlin 30-30. When I was flat ass broke I bought some of the Simmons as that was all I could afford. I know people say cheap is what you get, and they aren't the be all end all. I have some Burris and Leupold to. But as far as holding up to recoil. I have yet for one to fail even on a 375 H&H and a 375 Taylor.

very well made scopes. Some of our snipers in the sandbox are using the high dollar 8 X 24 X 50 Tasco scope on their sniper rifles. I saw them listed a few years back at around $4800 if memory serves. Kase and I used the Tasco 3X World Class handgun scopes with the little dot reticle. They were 30mm scopes and were great scopes. I shot them on my 450 GNR in Africa and Kase used one on his Dan Wesson 445 Super mag for years. We still have it. Tasco made some low end scopes that were sold at K-Mart and Walmart but their World Class were just that, World Class scopes. I wouldn't have a problem at all taking one back to Africa in 6 weeks.
Thanks guys!

I kind of new they were cheap scopes. I just did not want to waste my time mounting and bore sighting to remove them and do it all over again. Gary that tasco will be ok on that Remington 22-250 I just got from you? I was going to buy a high dollar scope, but if you think it is ok I will use it.
