Scope base mounting screw? Forward hole screw just twisted in half.
I did not use my 5’ cheater bar to torque and it broke. The sight of the bar must have scared the screw.

on the top with a punch if you can to keep the bit straight and centered from the start. If you walk it and totally blow it, go from a #6-48 to a #8-48 tapped hole. Also you can ignore it and just use 3 holes.

Screws like that will usually turn right out with your fingers because they no longer have a load on them assuming there is no lock-tite in them or rust. The trick, in this case, is getting ahold of it somehow. Someone already mentioned center punch and drill. If you do that, make sure and use a left-handed drill bit and be sure to drill absolutely along the same axis of the screw. Once the drill bit bites into the screw, odds are it spins right out (if you don't know LH bits drill counter-clockwise).

gun shop and let them do it right. One slip and you have ruined the threads plus probably put a gouge in the barrel and have to spend 3 times as much to fix your fuggup.
