Reeder Custom Guns - I may have asked this before but

what are your opinions on the AR style pistols?

For some reason I kind of like the concept but I am not sure if I want to get one.

In finality I always end up converting to carbines. Just so much more useful. The 10.5" is the original modification (Viet Nam era) of the M-16 and it's gas system. There is some decisive trickery involved in getting one short to run totally reliable. You can't just slap on a short barrel and go with it. I'm sure the piston systems are better adapted.

My 10.5" was easy to add a 5.5" flash hider to make it long. You seldom encounter the "Barrel Police" but why be stupid. I'm always surprised how ferocious the blast and flash is from a short .223.

I wouldn't want one with a barrel shorter than 12" though. Makes for a good trunk gun.

Get one in 224 Valkyrie and you're gold. The short barrel might cut you back to like 900 yards though. :D

it's what makes the world so interesting. It would be a pretty bland world if we all preferred the same exact thing.

(Though I think some governments would be happy about it ......)

I tried one with the 10 in barrel, shot pretty well considering there is only a wrist brace. I went back to a full sized stock and even with the 10 in barrel it shoots well for the ranges I shoot. I order to keep from having another fed permit for it, weld on a 6 in flame suppressor to get to the 16 in requirement, it helps balance out toe full size stock. In theory and with a little work you can go back to the pistol. Just another toy in the toybox

DIDN'T THINK I WOULD CARE FOR IT BUT I ALSO GOT THE GREEN WIRELESS LASER AND I CAN SHOOT EXCEPTIONALLY SMALL GROUPS WITH IT FROM THE HIP. THE LIGHT ACTIVATES AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU GRIP IT.

and each one was built as a pistol so they could be converted back and forth. Only 2 remain as pistols, a 300 with a 10.5" barrel and a 223 with a 7.5" barrel that I use as a truck gun. I like both and each has it's place.

I did overbuild this one and kept it. Its a great stress reliever at the range and will pile lots of brass. With the green lazer its super accurate and with the folding stock it will fit in a backpack or under the truck seat. 7.5” .223 Wilde 1.9 twist. [image]
