You might want to add the AutoMags and Wildeys, but both are hard to obtain.

Are identical except for overall case length. The 45super can be run up to the “sain” end of the Rowland data as long as the gun is set up correctly. Can easily run 185g and 200gr jhp in to the mid 1400fps, And not have the loading problems the rowland has. The longer Rowland case is not pare of the case volume equations because it has the same overall cartridge length as the 45acp, and 45super do to the limiting factor of the magazine size. In most jhp bullets the Rowland case will have a nasty lip sticking out wider than the bullet because it has to be seated past the ogive, inturn can cause nasty feeding problems. 45SUPER is a great hunting round for say under 200 lbs class critters. The 45Win Mag is the go to bad boy. Hard to beat a nice LAR Grizzly

It was the 451detonic case cut back to standard 45acp length. The case has a Thicker web so can Handel higher pressure. It is popular with the steel shooters, more power to nock em over. Today there are better powders available and the performance has come up a lot. It is a much better round with Starline making brass and Longshot for powder. To convert a 1911 you need a compensated barrel and a sprinco recoil guide rod and spring system. It will take around a 22-24lbs recoil spring!

I have a 460 Rowland barrel on my Colt 1911. I run 185's at 1490 fps. and 230's at 1340 fps. using Longshot in both. Maybe lucky, but I've never had any feed issues.

Ago. I will say this, Ive carried quite a few hunting revolvers on various hunts but the 1911 was by far the most comfortable.

My DE 50AE has no trouble pushing a 350gr bullet at 1350fps in my six inch and 1550 out of my ten inch. And I have not seen a another auto match it for accuracy.

I think it weighs about the same as a M94 Winchester. I've had Desert Eagle's before, not a .50 though. The trigger design is the darnedest thing I've ever seen, sear engagement etc.

I've had an AMP.44, Grizzly Win. Mag .45, Desert Eagle .357, various .45, 10mm, and a .460/.45 Super. The Automag felt horrible in the hand but shot literally like a target rifle. The Grizzly was big, heavy, soft shooting. Mu Eagle was too small caliber to take very serious but worked. The 10mm is a lightweight in my book until you handload a good 200-230 gr. bullet. The .45 Super is pretty close to the .45 Win. mag but at max for such a handy portable package.

I'm still looking for a viable primary hunting auto. So far my rigs will certainly do for 50 yd. work and are comforting for back up. I just couldn't afford to keep that AMP, but it was a dandy. With just a few mods it would be the stuff, it had just enough power without being wasteful and in a portable, accurate, package. The Grizzly is really close but if you can drop power just slightly a good well set up .45 S./460 is handier. Ditto for a special set up 10mm for me.

185 grain bullet in a standard 1911 Gvt model using standard 45 ACP brass. The load data he used in his Super Vel ammo. He, Nonte and another fellow all took Black Bear and Tennessee hogs with that load in a Colt Gvt model 45 with those horrible factory sights. With that load I have hit 1445 fps in my AMT longslide 45 ACP.

Not much difference. I am sure you guys can name the other two. With my 10" barrel it is not any bigger than the Encore. Heavier maybe a little. Trigger not as good but you get used to it. The 10" inched scoped will do easy four inches at 100yds with a 350gr @1550fps and the 6" with a red dot and a 350gr @ 1350fps will do an easy 6" at 100yds.

I bet some you guys hands it would shoot even better! I carry my DE on a belted holster with the six inch barrel while fishing here on the Kenia. For me I just don't find it that clumbersome and heavy. And my hands are not that big!

I prefer revolvers to automatics. I own a 460 Rowland. It is the most difficult cartridge I have ever loaded for. I own a 45 Win. Mag. LAR Grizzly. I have the same problem with it I have with a Desert Eagle. I have very small hands. I owned a Colt Delta Gold Cup in 10mm auto. It burned up in 1991 when my house burned down. The 40 Super is interesting.
AutoMag is back in production in 44 AMP with 6.5" and 8.5" barrel. Wildey is back in production in 475 Wildey and 45 win Mag with 8",10"and 12" barrel. Both are very expensive. Check ALL the features and let your money be your guide.
