Playing with the old .375 again.
I have an old BB 94 I got off Puffy, about 10 yrs. ago. I modified a LEE 265 gr. plain base mould (sort of crappy bullet unless you are loading old BP stuff or .38-55). The 215 gr. FNGC that resulted allowed me to hit 2000 fps in the .375 GNR and makes a fine, fun, med. game load for the .378 GNR, I used 50.0 gr. 4895 for a duplication of .375 Win. carbine ballistics. Recoil in my light FA 2008 is much more friendly that a hot big game load.
The .375 Win is really hurting for capacity. The factory loads use some "magic dust" that is hard to replicate via handloading and normal powders we can get. I have high hopes with AA1680 (starting for 200 gr. jacketed is 36.0 grs and lists speeds over 2100 fps). It is a slower powder than say 2400 or 4227, H322 just didn't light my fire, although accuracy was grand. The .375 will never be a cannon, but it can get up there close with the .444 Marlin, I can deal with that.
Weather has been lousy and I have several things I'd love to try this weekend.
