During my last trip to Israel a bus load of school children rolled into the parking lot of a historic place for a field trip. With the children were two heavily armed men to make certain they were safe. There are no school shootings in Israel any more, since the government made the safety of their school children a No.1 level concern. You don't get into an Israeli school without going through several layers of security including metal detectors and searches of hand carried items. Their school security is better than our airport security.
If we know that people are going to take guns, knives, bombs etc into our schools, which we do, then we can prevent it. However we are going to have to value our children more than we do at this time.

until our leaders start taking our kids safety first

and not blaming the guns, this will continue to happen. If that coach had had a gun he could have stopped it right then. But our "leaders" would rather blame the guns instead of taking care of the problem before it happens. And as long as they act after the fact this will continue to happen. They have armed guards to keep people from getting into their offices and such in Washington so why not have armed guards in our schools to keep the bad guys away from our kids too.

We have more armed officers at our financial institutions then we do at our public schools. Does that mean that as a nation we are more concerned about our money than we are the safety of our children?

No need to reinvent the wheel we just need to look to Israel for the example.

Well said.

How about this....our local schools will spare no expense for their new football stadium and raise $100,000 or more. How much does a metal detector or a retired cop cost? People should be ashamed the let their priorities get in the way of basic common sense...like being protected.
