Going through some of my junk today I ran across some of my original 475 Linebaugh ammo .... from back in the day when there was no factory brass or ammo.
Nicely done Jim

When Hornady legalized the 475 Linebaugh, they reduced the rim diameter from .608 to .540 to fit in the Freedom Arms model 83.
there are some other small changes too. Enough

that my old dies wouldn't work and the old reamer made a chamber that wasn't the same. It has been a good while and I don't remember the specifics but it was different.
Very cool Jim!!

SAAMI specs, my dies (based on cut down 45-70 brass) and my reamers, based on the same thing didn't work anymore. I don't know who I was pissed off at more, John Linebaugh, who was a good friend, or Steve Hornady, who was a good friend. So I just shot my sister's cat. Made me feel better.
Yep. I liked the original design better.

I understood the reasoning for the change but I did not like it.

It was just a preference. I liked the big rimmed 45-70. The only changes as far as I know was the smaller rim so the cartridges could be used in existing revolvers like the Freedom Arms. Nothing negatve about that. It was like some guys liking blondes and others redheads.
Lol! I really like the Ult Blk Widow you built me in 475L

I still use it trimmed to 1.61" to make GR's .475 maximum based .457GNR. It works.
