AUTHORITIES I ran into at the LGS. If you remember they talked about it shooting flat out past 1,000 yards. I attempted to educate them but they knew better because it is in all the articles on the internet. I offered a wager of a thousand dollars they couldn't sight it in at a hundred yards and hit a dinner plate at 1,000 yards in 10 shots. They left in a huff. Well yesterday I ran into them again as they wefe picking up the weapon and some ammo. They axked if I was still on for the bet but since I was a old b dger on Social Security they didn't want me to be broke so we bet on a botgle of whiskey, winner's choice. I was on it quick. Went with them to their homemade range. We stepped off 300 yards which was all the open space we had. Changed the number of allowable shots from 10 to 3. After about 12 shots at 100 yards they were satisfied they had it down. Took their 3 at 350 and missed. Feeling bad for the guys I offered double or nothing that I could hit it within 3 and they took me up on it. Pulled up the ballistics on my smartphone and saw the 120 gr had a 6.5" drop at 300 yards. First round I fired I put the cross hairs tdc on the plate, squeezed off a round and the bottom right portion of the plate blew off. Enjoying a nice glass of Glenmorangie right now and have a bottle of Redbreast in reserve. Spent several hours with these young guys after my shot, showing them ballistic tables, bullet drop, drift etc. All three were hitting plates at 300 yards before we left the range, was invited to hunt with them next season and they realize they cannot believe everything they read on the internet sites and blogs. Told them to read all they could starting with Carlos Hatcock and real world snipers.
