totally away from your guns. Any kind of oil is the worst thing you can put in your gun. It attracts dust, sand and debris and turns into a grinding compound, especially in cold weather and will ruin your gun. There are 3 things you need for your gun.
1. a Bore Snake in the right caliber
2. aa good gun grease to be applied with a toothpick
3.A good very fine spray oil to be sprayed on a rag and lightly rubbed over the gun and then take a dry cloth and wipe most of it off. This is mainly for those that have very acidic hands that will cause rust. But never spray it on the gun.
Here are the 3 things we recommend for all guns.

Both for cleaning, and when diluted, patch lube.

Yes, use if for black powder cleaning in my sharps and 1885s

Excellent for use to purge a barrel of crud and fine slivers of lead. With a tight cloth works very well. Use it also for a light surface lube also.

Oil if it turns, grease if it slides, she said.
