for you varmint hunters, one last gun from the Reeder vault
This is the gun featured in both my handgun hunting books. It is the very first custom XP-100 I built back in 1978. The stock I made from scratch and made it to fit my hand perfectly. The gun is chambered in 224 Weatherby and the gun comes with about 150 rounds of brass and ammo, about 50 of that factory ammo. It also comes with a set of dies. The gun has a Burris 10X scope on it and is great for those long shots. Back many years ago I hunted 2 or 3 afternoons a week with Larry Farley but was disappointed in that my Contenders wouldn't reach out far enough for the groundhogs. That disappointment was the reason for building this gun. With this pistol 300 to 350 yards was no problem. The cartridge and scope handled it fine. Since we moved out here in early '94 the gun has sat in my safe. Just not enough hours in the day to do the work that needed done and prairie dog hunt too. The stock has a lot of minor scratches from the hunting I did back in Tennessee but they are minor and the action and barrel are probably 95%. Figuring all the features up, the custom gun, custom stock, 10X Burris, the ammo and brass and dies the gun would normally be priced at somewhere around $2200. I have it sale priced at $1295 plus the shipping.
