Reeder Custom Guns - Star PD... More ?'s

I've located a few listings for the Star PD.

I won't be able to inspect prior to purchase. What potential issues should I ask about?

I know about the buffers.

I've read about the frames developing a crack at the slide stop hole.

Does the cartridge feed ramp on the aluminum frame suffer from damage?

Anything else?

they solved the problem Colt had by putting a stress relief cut in the frame so it never cracks. Whoever wrote that knows nothing about the PD. I have carried one every day since 1978 and never a problem. I own 4 of them (one is Colleens) and never a hitch with them. They are like the lightweight Colt and meant to be carried a lot and shot a little. But when you do shoot them they are very accurate. Jeff Cooper mentioned in one of his articles that his PD outshot his Colt Gold Cup.

always has been. Col. Cooper, like him or not, had good advice. Buy two, one to shoot a bunch and another to carry and pamper. Those buffers really take a lot of the pounding off the chassis. Even time, not even using them they will need maintenance and replacement. Oils too break down the material.

If you take a 1911, reduce the bulk by 50% and run the same ammo it's not hard to imagine you need to give it special consideration. The unique mods they did to the PD make it so shootable too. I find it actually superior to the Colt Commander myself. It does not torque in the hand like the Commander with me shooting it.

Don't forget the little BM and BMK which are basically 9mm Luger versions of the same gun. My only critique of any of the Star guns is the expense of quality original magazines. But just belly up and drop the $50-60 for the correct extra and you are set for a decade or two.

I got lazy and wanted something more toolish so I bought a 10-shot Glock 30s that is the same size and weight. A G19 or whatever is also the same size. Lots of options out there, just be real with yourself. The bullet and a hit is what counts, not what it came out of.

I've seen one that was cracked before.

Only one though. I think it had a hot reload run through it.

himself Joesixpack??? Notorious? He is so full of shit. I have owned at least 10 thru the years and have customized at least 3 or 4 times that many and I have NEVER seen even one with a cracked frame.
